Jets sign another kicker
to compete with Doug Brien.
Also, attention Josh Evans! You lose your appeal, you lose the dough! If Jets DT Josh Evans is not successful in appealing his positive drug test he loses a ton of money and the Jets get cap relief.
Hempstead, NY- The New York Jets announced today the signing of placekicker Clay Rush. The announcement was made by Jets General Manager Terry Bradway.
Rush, 6-3, 220 pounds, is a five-year Arena Football League veteran out of Missouri Western University and was selected as the 2003 Kicker of the Year during his time with the Indiana Firebirds, as voted by the 16 head coaches of the Arena Football League member teams. Rush, who earned Kicker of the
Year honors with the Iowa Barnstormers in 2000, was named to the All-Arena First Team last week.
He tallied an AFL-best 154 points while connecting on 24-of-46 (52.2 percent) of his field goal attempts. Rush converted 82-of-96 (85.4 percent) of his extra point attempts and his consistently deep kickoffs led to the Firebirds allowing only an average of 18.4 kickoff return yards average(third in AFL) and 30 touchbacks.
Rush joins ten-year veteran Doug Brien and fourth-year veteran Danny Kight as the other placekickers currently on the Jets roster.
