The NY Jets held a major press conference today kicking off a campign designed to allow fans of the team an opportunity to vote for their favorite players of the past four decades. The Jets also announced that former Jets QB Joe Namath, possibly the most popular sports icon in NY history, will serve as the Jets Ambassador-at-Large
"Broadway Joe" Namath was welcomed back to the New York Jets today during a press conference at the Renaissance Hotel Times Square in Manhattan. In his new role with the Club, Joe will serve as the Jets Ambassador-at-Large.

President Jay Cross, NY-XL is a campaign designed to give fans of the New York Jets an opportunity to cast a vote for their favorite Jets of the past four decades.
The names of 56 players, from two-time Pro Bowl defensive end John Abraham to perennial All-Pro Winston Hill, plus room for write-in candidates, will appear on ballots that will be available at participating Hess Gas Stations, as well as at the Meadowlands for each Jets home game.
Voting for the NY-XL will begin on August 1 and run through November 23 when the Jets host the Jacksonville Jaguars. Fans can also vote on-line at www.newyorkjets.com. Players selected will be announced and introduced at the Jets-Patriots game on December 20.
The Jets also made a few roster moves today by signing free agent P/TE Dallas Neil and DT Joe Minucci.
Neil, a 6-1, 235-pound P/TE spent the past two seasons with the Atlanta Falcons. He was placed on the injured reserve list, after suffering a sprained right ankle in the preseason opener against Jacksonville. He originally signed with Atlanta as a rookie free agent in 2000 before being waived and signed to the practice squad.
Minucci, a 6-2, 295-pound DT from Delaware University registered 99 tackles, 7.5 sacks, one interception and one forced fumble in 43 games played. Minucci was born and raised in Lindenhurst, NY and attended St. Anthony's high school in Huntington NY.
