Thursday Practice Highlights
July 24th, 2003
On a humid, overcast Thursday, here are a few tidbits from Jets camp. The players were in full pads today and following an afternoon rest for most of the veterans yesterday afternoon, they were pumped up to hit today. Chad Pennington was inactive for most of the practice and did not throw. Due to the extended training camp, Coach Edwards wants to keep Penningtonís are fresh. Vinny Testaverde and Brooks Bollinger took most of the reps. The Coach also let Curtis Conway rest and FB BJ Askew sat out due to a scratched cornea. The injury isnít serious and he should be back in action shortly.

Defense was prevalent today with many excellent plays by the Jets secondary. CB Aaron Beasley, CB Donnie Abraham and S Tyrone Carter had good practices. Beasley had a great defense against Santana Moss on a long streak. Testaverde hooked up with Cecil Moore again today on several passes.

Rookie RB Chad Brinker had several reps today and Coach Edwards mentioned in his press conference that he was very impressed with the undrafted free agent. Could be bad news for local hero Ian Smart.

Edwards also mentioned that LB Mark Brown, TE Chris Baker, OG Jonathan Goodwin and LB Jason Glenn have impressed him this week.
