Although today's temperature was the hottest of the week, a steady breeze made conditions bearable. Defense dominated practice on Thursday as the offensive units looked a bit weary. Highlights on defense came mostly form the secondary with CB Ray Mickens making several break ups including an interception off rookie Marquel Blackwell. Rookie CB Kevin Knight also showed some good coverage and broke up several passes. CB Jamie Henderson was back at practice and looked like he was running without pain. DT Chester McGlockton was participating and was consistently giving pressure to the QB.

On offense, although there were not many highlights, QB Chad Pennington completed a 50 yard rainbow for a TD to WR Curtis Conway. QB Vinny Testaverde also competed a pretty 25 yard pass to TE Anthony Becht in coverage. Rookie WR Cecil Moore was back practicing today and had a few nice short grabs. The offense practiced a bit of trickery when QB Brooks Bollinger attempted a flea flicker. WR Carlos Rosado was open, but Bollinger badly underthrew the pass and it fell incomplete.

RB Curtis Martin spoke after practice and said his ankles are 100% healed. In fact, he hasn’t felt this good in years. The limited action in camp has truly helped his recovery. He is though, quite anxious to get some reps and take a few hits before the season starts. According to Coach Edwards, Martin will see limited action on Saturday. Martin also mentioned he’s keeping tabs on two very close friends in Dallas. He was recently former Jets RB Richie Anderson’s best man and although he is in his football season “Bunker” he still is able to get reports on Bill Parcells through the grapevine. After a comment to Martin that Parcells could sure use a guy like him in the Dallas backfield now, Martin replied “I’m a Jet”.

CB Aaron Beasley was excused to day due to the death of his grandfather. DE Bryan Thomas is around 85% and should play on Saturday.
