The Jets added some needed depth at QB today by signing nine year veteran Jamie Martin. The Jets added some needed depth at QB today by signing nine year veteran Jamie Martin.

Martin, a 6-2, 205-pound quarterback is an eight-year NFL veteran who spent the past two seasons with the St. Louis Rams. The Weber State University product has played in 25 career games, making three starts, and has completed 199 of 310 passes for 2,141 yards, throwing for 14 touchdowns with 13 interceptions.

The 33-year old Martin first signed out of college as a rookie free agent by the Los Angeles Rams in 1993, and was originally with the Rams until 1996. The Arroyo Grande, California native has gone on to play for the Washington Redskins (1997), Jacksonville Jaguars (1998, 2000), Cleveland Browns (1999), and back to St. Louis in 2001 and 2002.

The addition of Martin means that QB Todd Husak's third tour of duty with the team will likely be a short one. Our sources tell us that Husak, who was signed yesterday and is familiar with the Jets offense, was brought in to play the game in Philadelphia on Thursday and will be released shortly thereafter. With QB Brooks Bollinger out with a sprained knee and Vinny Testaverde likely only to play a series or so, the Jets had only rookie Marquel Blackwell to play for the rest of the game.

The Jetsí active roster currently stands at 72 players. The Jets travel to Philadelphia to play the Eagles on Thursday, August 28 in their preseason finale.
