Jets add needed depth on the offensive line and waive a wide receiver to make room.
The Jets announced the signing of OT Michael Thompson and waiving of WR Cedric James.
Thompson, a 6-4, 295-pound lineman, is entering his fourth NFL season out of Tennessee State University. The native of Savannah, Georgia was a fourth round draft pick of the Atlanta Falcons in 2000 and spent the first three seasons of his career with the Falcons before being traded to the Seattle Seahawks on April 10, 2003.
Thompson was released by the Seahawks on August 25. He will be considered for the swing tackle position that the team is currently without.
James signed with the Jets on August 18, 2003 but didn't impress enough to stay on the roster.
The Jets’ active roster currently stands at 72 players. The Jets travel to Philadelphia to play the Eagles on Thursday, August 28 in their preseason finale.
