With big WRs such as Kelley Washington (Tennessee) Tyrone Calico (Middle Tennessee State) still on the board, the Jets decided to stay defensive by selecting
Michigan LB Victor Hobson in round two of Saturdays NFL Draft.
Hobson (6-0, 252, 4.85), started every game for Michgan in 2002 and was named All-Big 10. He also led the team in tackles with 99-17-6-4-2. ProFootball Weekly described Hobson as the best player on Michigans defense last season and an All-American-type playmaker.
Hobson will help an aging Jets linebacking corp which also lost depth with the departure of free agent James Darling to Arizona.
