Florham Park, N.J. — Everyone knows by now that Sunday night’s game between the Dallas Cowboys and the New York Jets is not just another game on the schedule. It is much more than that. With the ten year anniversary of 9/11/01 approaching, doesn’t it seem fitting that the Jets are facing off against ‘America’s team’. This is not the only attention this game is receiving. With the Cowboys acquiring Rex’ twin brother and defensive coordinator Rob Ryan in the offseason, this might add a little fuel to the coach’s fire. If these two obstacles aren’t enough to get past, imagine how the Ryan brothers are feeling about their father, Buddy Ryan an ex- NFL coach who his pushing back a surgery for cancer in order to attend the game. After all this, there is still a game to be played and the focus needs to be on point.

QB Tony Romo is returning to the field after suffering from a season ending collarbone injury in 2010. He is ranked in the top ten in most QB categories. In 2009  Romo ranked 8th amongst the league’s best passers in quarterback rating and he was third in passing yards with 4,483. He also threw 26 touchdowns which was good enough for 10th best. Even with all the skill he has coming from his own arm as well as in the hands of his receivers, he knows how good the Jets defense is.

“They’re a great group, obviously.” Romo said. ” They have great corners. They have a great coaching staff.  They do a lot of different stuff. Communication will be difficult up there. We’re going to have to communicate well. We’re going to see a lot of cover-two man against them. They use a lot of two-high safeties and play man under coverage. They’re going to throw some zone at us, so you have to account for these things and just be ready to go.”

One of those great corners is none other than #24 Darrelle Revis who knows that this game is going to be a big one but he realizes the team has to be even keel in order for them to win.

“It’s going to be outstanding. The fans are ready to go.” Revis said. “They’re going to be rowdy as always. I think we just need to calm down and be cool and just play our game.”

Revis knows how dangerous Romo and his offense can be as well.

“He can make any throw. He’s a gunslinger.” Revis said. “The guy makes plays with his feet while he scrambles a little bit. He looks for his guys. He looks for (Jason) Witten, he looks for Dez (Bryant), and he looks for Miles Austin.”

Now that Rob Ryan is at the helm in Dallas as their new defensive coordinator, wouldn’t one think that by the Cowboys offense facing his defense in practice might give them a slight advantage this Sunday night due to the simliarities between the brothers. Even though there might be some differences, coach Ryan seems to be thinking realistically about the situation.

“I’m sure there are some similarities, but a lot of it is different.” Ryan said. “But I think anytime you go with a pressure-type defense, it’s good to work against that. Just like going against no-huddle offenses. We’re prepared defensively because we see that a bunch and things. I think without question it prepares you a little bit better.”

The differences might outweigh similarities and do just enough to throw Dallas’ offense off come Sunday.

“There are some differences, a lot.” Ryan said. “He’ll bring a lot of corner pressures, he’ll do a lot of stuff (that he learned) under Belichick’s tutelage. So we’re definitely different. He has probably his own trademark of defense, and so do we here. The Rex Ryan, Mike Pettine and Dennis Thurman defense.”
