Brett Favre has played 18 seasons, but he’s not ready to decide if he wants to return for his 19th year. ESPN”s Ed Werder reports that Favre does not intend to make a decision for “several weeks” and he will “remove himself completely from even thinking about football” before he discusses a possible return with Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum.

“I have the ability to turn it off just like that,” Favre said. “I don’t feel anything else to prove.  Do I redeem myself for the last five games? No. I could be trying to do that until I’m 60 years old.”

Werder also reports that Favre spoke with fullback Tony Richardson about the criticism he faced from teammates in recent weeks, with hopes that the feelings were not widespread through the locker room.
