Yesterday he was discussing Leinart with Mortenson, arm strength is a huge concern. A lefty Chad...one's enough for me.

He also said Brady Quinn can be compared to Tom Brady.

Leinart is a nice player but a system guy. Similar to, you guessed it, Chad Pennington. He needs a running game to be effective, his arm while not weak is certianly not a strong point and he isn't really mobile (at the NFL level). If the Jets get the #2 pick they need to deal it ASAP, build the o-line and get a late 1st round pick.

BTW i have been saying all along i woudl rank the top 3 college qb's like this:
    Quinn
    Young
    Leinart.

And if you are wondering what team Leinart woulbe a great fit for.......the Miami Dolphins (so lets hope he doesn't go there).

Leinart doesn't have a bazooka, but his arm is stronger than Chad's. Chad needs to take three steps up (almost a running start) to get mustard on the ball. Leinart doesn't.

The guy had a bad game on Saturday. Lets not over dramatize it.

I think so as well...The Fish are a good QB away from really being competitive...Leinart in a warm climate with no wind is his best bet..Fish have the playmakers on offense..Good Wr's, young back with speed and power and an improving o-line..

Leinart's arm strength is better than Chad's, its probably in the Brady/Hasselbeck range, although that won't be enough for Jets fans.

A bigger concern, though, is that he doesn't protect himself well enough when passing. The USC O-line is great at pass-blocking, but even on some of the hits he's taken this season, there's real potential for him to be an injury concern in the pros.

I like Jay Cutler more than Leinart or Quinn. He's available this year, he's big, strong, got a cannon for an arm, and wins despite being on a no-talent team. He's a Brett Favre-clone.

That's the kind of thinking that could land the Jets another Ryan Leif or Jeff George, Top draft picks who had cannon arms.

Jay Cutler wins despite his team being terrible? He won 11 games in 4 years, yeah, that's sure impressive. Don't let him beating an AWFUL Tennessee team fool you, UT couldn't beat anyone this year.

Maybe not, but taking Vanderbilt (Vanderbilt, people!) to double-OT in the swamp against Florida was enough for me.

I didn't say anything about spending a top draft pick, just a cannon arm!

Vanderbilt is also about the equivilant of a 1-AA school playing 1-A. 11 Wins is a hell of an accomplishment there.

If this is the case then, the JETS should pick up a QB (if need be) via the free agency which I think they'll probably do.
