During the course of the 2005 season many Jets fans were speculating that Herm Edwards would walk away from the head coaching job in NY to go to Kansas City. I remember people talking about possible compensation for him leaving with two years left on his contract, but you said that the NFL sent a Memo to all teams stating that coaches could no longer be "traded" for draft picks.

My question is: What is the NFL's stance on head coaches leaving for compensation? It seems like a grey area and I am interested in the NFL official stance on "trading head coaches" for draft picks. Any info is appreciated.
