We're goin to Austin, TX for vacation and looking for a good place to stay and things to do. Any ideas? Most likely goin to San Antonio and possibly San Padre.

    Thanx!

If you have time definitely go tubing on the Guadalupe river. It's basically like spring break on a river. Thousands of people float down the river in inner tubes throwing back beers the entire time. You always get an extra tube for your cooler of beer. Some people are so hard core they build inner tubes fitted with powerful sound systems and blast music up and down the river. Keep an eye out for the girls in bikini's with the jello shots!

    Austin:

Austin zoo - small zoo but cool.

    6th street = http://austin.about.com/cs/sixthstre...ixthstreet.htm

Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum
Saying that it's as big as Texas is no exaggeration. This mammoth museum is large enough to hold the original Goddess of Liberty from the top of the State Capitol (replaced during renovation), a 1/3 scale model of the Lunar module, a full-size windmill, and a circa 1940 AT-6 "Texan" airplane. But don't miss the smaller exhibits including historic documents, artifacts, photos, diaramas, and talking displays and videos. It's not free, but well worth the admission.

    Good BBQ almost everywhere

In Austin, go hang out at The Oasis one evening. Get some margaritas, Mexican food, and watch the sunset over Lake Travis. The food is decent, the drinks are good, the view is phenomenal.
