PBS plays a lot of cool taped shows on Saturday nights around 11pm and 1pm. I tape the shows sometimes. I know pulse was just on this past Saturday night as well. Its a really good concert. I've seen the dead, talking heads on it. they love playing springsteen both the HBO New York concert and older 70s and 80s stuff too.

    Is anybody else watching this?

These guys really were amazing .. unique and amazing

What you young-bloods may not understand, before Pink Floyd there was nothing like them .. nothing at all to influence what they did .. now you hear bands that sound like Pink Floyd, clearly influenced by Floyd, but before Floyd there was nothing like them, they invented the music they played with nothing to influence it but their own imaginations

    Thumbs up

GJ&H- If you like this type of music, you should check out this band
Straight Dope Cherry. They are a retro-rock-jam-band that has a lot of Floyd influence. They sound a little bit like a lot of different bands from different times (both old and new) but they put on a great show. Infact, they are playing at the Bitter End in NYC on 12/22 and at Maxwells in Hoboken NJ on 12/23 both at around 10:00. They are very good and have gotten better with the addition of a crazy new guitar player that was not on their first two albums. They are worth the time so give them a listen.

Ham, I was watching some of Pulse last night. It's an absolutely awesome show. David Gilmour is one of the most underappreciated guitarists ever. I was watching Shine On You Crazy Diamond, he makes the guitar playing seem so effortless. The only let-down about this show is that it doesn't include Roger Waters, otherwise it's top-notch.

Everything sounds the same these days. I wish I was around to see Pink Floyd when they were at the height of their game. Thanks to Q1043 and the internet I can at least pretend I was around.

In post #12 I just told Ham about this Band Straight Dope Cherry. Check out their website at the same address as their name.com and listen to their mp3s. Their live shows are great. Just passing on the love. Good live and original music is hard to find these days, but check them out, you won't be disappointed.

I'm trying to get someone to go see Australian Pink Floyd Show and I'm having no luck. I don't want to use the word cover band, because they're so much better than that. Unforunately, they don't have a NYC area date this tour(????)
If you see them in a large arena its a lot like the last two pink floyd tours. Gilmour even gave them videos and giant pig from that tour. If you see them in a small theater it won't be as intense, but still very very good. I saw Floyd on the last 2 tours and the music and vocals are very very close. I'm going to see them at the Montreal Bell Center tommorow night, last year 16,000 people showed up.

If you are a floyd fan you'll really appreciate it (except for one old battle axe, living inthe past fan here). Not you Ham, another one.

    check out the reviews
    Aussie Floyd

I love Floyd. I saw the Division Bell show in Toronto. Best. Concert. Ever.

BTW, shuler, I love David Gilmour-Floyd just as much as Waters-Floyd. He's the dumbass that left. Blame him.

True, Waters wrote the majority of songs, but Floyd is nothing without that guitar sound. Why should Gilmour have to give up a name he spent his life promoting because Roger is a prick?

I would also say that A Momentary Lapse of Reason is better than a few Waters led albums. It absolutely smokes The Final Cut...and some pre-Meddle material can be downright embarrassing.
