    bowl prospect watch

Who will you be watching in this weeks bowl games with an eye toward the draft? Since we aren't picking in the top five...what later picks will you be looking at...I will be trying to identify versitile players that might fit the mangini system...here are some of my hopefull picks...please post your draft hopefulls!

    1) OLB LaMarr Woodley- Michigan

Might be a nice upgrade over hobson, projects well in a 3-4 and could really help beef up the pass rush. Decent in coverage and has great success blitzing from three point as well as upright

    2) DE/DT Adam Carriker - Nebraska
    http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/sco...mcarriker.html

With Kimo aging, and being generally less than productive, a solid DE is a big need. Carriker projects very well in a 3-4, is versitile and could be had in later rounds.

    3) OG/OT Aaron Sears - Tennessee
    http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/sco...rronsears.html

A versitile smart lineman who could give some reeded depth to the right side of our OL...the jury is still out on this kid, but he would definately be an upgrade over Adrian Jones, and Clement is getting old and not a great starter

    4) DT/NT Amobi Okoye - Louisville
    http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/sco...mobiokoye.html

Very young, and very very smart (started louisvile as a true freshman at age 16!!!!) Projects very well as a 3-4 NT. Would give some great depth, would probably help protect vilma and maybe free up Drob to be used more creatively in two dt sets. Alos, might be a lon, lon, long term answer to the NT position.

    5) CB Josh Wilson - Maryland
    http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/sco...oshwilson.html

Super fast cb with good football lineage...Good against the run and decent in man coverages. Probably not a starter, but a good backup with good speed, huge heart and playmaking ability...Undersized body, oversized motor.

    Notes:
Might be able to move inside to tackle but his best fit at the pro level will probably come as a defensive end in a 3-4 scheme...He isn't the type of flashy pass rusher we are accustomed to seeing from the position but that isn't everything...With so many teams now moving to the 34 defense there will probably be a high demand for this guy so don't be surprised if the "Blackshirt" goes higher than most expect.
and hes already listed at a first round target

Dwayne Bowe and Russell have a chance to really shine ona national stage against the Irish, I'll be keyed in on both of them for the whole game.
