As Per ESPN Radio: Jones Not Practicing Today

Said he's sitting out and walking with a noticeable limp.

No big surprise...there is still quite a bit of time left before the season. I think Jones could start right now opening day without too many more practice reps...This guy will play hurt as well!!

The fact that Jones is there, on the practice field, (even though he's not practicing) and not mysteriously absent is good news to me.

"a noticable limp" implies that Jones is already walking around. Actually, this is encouraging.

Yes, and walking on the sideline - meaning a sprain but nothing very serious that 2 weeks won't cure.

Good to hear that he's out there. We have plenty of time for the situation to improve.

Rumored to have gang green leg to be sawed off from just above the knee.

    That's absolutely RIDICULOUS!!!

I heard Jones is having his leg amputated below the knee, not above it.

Isn't that what Martin did in 05 so he could stay in and keep his 1,000 yard season streak going?

    Yep.

They were going to further the amputation to above the knee in 2005 so Curtis could continue on his streak, but they couldn't get the bionic knee to work, so Curtis opted against the surgery.

I dont understand what everybody is getting all worried about...Its only a week into preseason...this could actually be a blessing in disguise! Its only an ankle sprain. I hate having starters play even one series during the first one or two preseason games anyway. Lets just be happy that it is a sprained ankle and not a broken leg. I would like to see what Banks and Ware can do anyway. Sit him out until the the last preseason game...let him play one series and let him be ready for week one vs. the Pats with no ill affects!

I thought it was because it would be considered a "performance enhancer".

    The good news

Thomas Jones is on the sideline and not getting any type of surgery or scope done.

The season starts 4 weeks from yesterday. The fact the words MRI is not mentioned is good enough.

Enjoy the bike and Medicine Ball, TJ. No more contact for the rest of TC

Are you sure it's above and not below? I've taken my estimate down from 1,325 yards rushing to 1,105 based on this news.

People who are saying to shut him down for the rest of preseason are seriously overreacting. Its a sprained ankle that he was able to put weight on the same day. If that happend in a regular season game he'd be back in the game after a series or two.
