We have another HUGE problem: Our run game

Now, Chad not being able to throw the deep ball has a lot to do with our run game struggling. Yet we do a terrible job of getting a push at the line of scrimmage. Our guards?!? Backups, nothing more. Thomas Jones can only run straight forward, no moves at all and he goes down pretty easy. Seriously, he hasn't been punishing people all year.

We can never, NEVER turn the corner. Leon is doing everything he can but he always faces atleast 2 guys in the backfield. We are missing block after block. While other teams get atleast 4 yards on obvious running downs, we barely make three yards in normal situations... we had one... ONE RUN longer than 4 yards today...

While getting D'Brick and Mangold was a great start, our offensive line is still a work in progress. Not everything is Chad's fault, we fool ourselves if we believe that.

Washington needs to start in place of Jones.

it's just an extension of our pathetic passing game.

pretty easy to stack guys up against the line when 5yds is considered 'deep'.

Good point---I think Jones ran for 38 yards---not much there. These guys can't open holes----and never will.

Chicken or the Egg. They both compliment each other and influence each other. But i'm pretty confident to say that if we opened up the offense with deeper routes, it can only help out our running game.

What? The passing game is the one bright spot on this team and it's not because of Chad, but the stellar play of our receivers. The contortionist play of Coles and Cotchery plus the downfield presence of our newest third receiver Brad Smith had been the only thing saving Penny's ass every week. Our O-line is a work in progress. They can't push the line to save their lives. I think you have it backwards. It's our running game that constrains our passing not the other way around

Moore and Clement are weak at their position. DBrick is not strong in the run game. WE need to draft a huge offensive guard and tackle for starters.

there's an even bigger problem than that....they can't stop the run either....that's the killer-

teams run holes through them like they were swiss cheese..how many times did Croos mention today that big blew's offensive line was pushing the Jets off the ball???

I knew it was a bad idea to ignore our OL even before the Kendall situation blew up in the FO's face. We have 3 backups as starters on the OL. We should have drafted at least 2 new linemen last year including 1 who was ready to start for the first game. Now we're paying the price for Tangini's poor decisions (draft + Kendall).

Getting Thomas Jones is turning into a complete waste. He's averaging 3.4 YPC, 50 something yards per game and hasn't scored any TD's. That's his worst stats since his underwhelming rookie year. He's becoming a complete bust.

For an easy experiment on how important the offensive line is to a running back, look no further than Edgerrin James. He has a career YPC of 4.1 over 9 seasons. Last year, however, he averaged 3.4 behind that **** OL of the Cardinals. But the Arizona FO realized this and added a stud OT with their first pick, Levi Brown. With the addition of some talented beef in front of him, James is up to 4.4 YPC. Coincidence ? I think not.

Since the Jets took on Thomas Jones, they owed it to him to provide some support for the running game. The Jets FO did nothing and now Thomas Jones looks like a chump.

We rank 25th in the league in rush yards per game and that was before out putrid performance today... I don't even want to see our rush yards per attempt...
