    Les Miles staying at LSU

ESPN once again jumped the gun on something and is completely wrong. Miles is signing an extension with LSU.

He made the right move. He's in a good position right now. The Michigan job is a thankless one.

    What this source?

    This is still speculation?

What if he is holding the presser to announce he is leaving?

he's called a press conference for 1:45....three hours before the SEC title game...he would not do this if it were not positive news for LSU....

Miles will remain coach at LSU

    http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3136391

LSU coach Les Miles will meet with the media at the Georgia Dome before the SEC Championship Game to announce that he is staying at LSU, a source told ESPN.com.

LSU associate athletic director Herb Vincent said Saturday morning that ESPN reports that Miles had accepted the head coaching position at Michigan were "inaccurate." Miles agreed to a contract extension Saturday with LSU.

Miles, who played at Michigan and served two stints as an assistant under the late Bo Schembechler, has been eyed as a successor to Lloyd Carr, who stepped down after the Wolverines' loss to Ohio State last month.

Miles has been head coach at LSU since 2005. LSU is 32-6 with Miles at the helm, including 22 wins in his first 26 games as coach, and won 11 games in 2005 and 2006. The No. 7 Tigers (10-2), whose two losses this season both came in triple overtime, will play Tennessee in the SEC Championship Game on Saturday.

Miles also coached at Oklahoma State, posting a 28-21 record between 2001 and 2004, and was tight ends coach for the Dallas Cowboys between 1998 and 2000.

Miles has a 60-27 overall record in seven seasons as a head coach.

ESPN is a joke. I don't even bother watching it or reading their website anymore...blogs are funnier, more interesting, and, at this point, more accurate.

Although LSU will always be able to land the better athletes overall. I am shocked. I thought for sure Michigan would be a better gig for him although more pressure.

Kirk Ferentz would be a great hire but hes already highly paid and settled at Iowa. Some guy on the scout board claims they are negotiating with Schiano from RU but I doubt that seeing as how he didnt even interview for Miami....obviously a lie.

Where Martin turns next is uncertain. Rutgers coach Greg Schiano, Wake Forest coach Jim Grobe and California coach Jeff Tedford all fit Martin's wishlist of characteristics for the next Michigan coach, but none has the Midwest ties and proven track record at two schools that made Miles so attractive.

In all honesty you can't blame ESPN too much, LSU did give permission to Michigan to talk to him. Combine that with his background and that's most certainly a story.
