Did winning KC game help us in FA?

Since we went from 3rd pick to 6th did that free up money for Free Agency?

No i don't think it freed more money but it did hurt the draft so there might be the ittiest bit of creedence to it.

Intresting thought, however I think the team was flush going into this year's FA period, that has been common knowledge for a while. Also I'm not sure how much three spots save you in the top of the draft.

Here's all I could find from 2006/2007, tough to tell in 2007, but a big difference in 2006:

    3. Cleveland Joe Thomas OT Wisconsin
    (Signed - 6 years, $42.5 million, $23 million guaranteed)

    6. Washington LaRon Landry S Louisiana State
    (Signed - 5 years, $41.5 million, $17.5 million guaranteed)

    2006:

    3. Tennessee, Vince Young, qb, Texas - five years, $58 million.

    5. Green Bay, A.J. Hawk, lb, Ohio State - six years, $37.5 million.

    6. San Francisco, Vernon Davis, te, Maryland - $23.0 million.

    7. Oakland, Michael Huff, db, Texas - five years, $22.5 million.

Where it may help us is I think it will be much easier to trade out of the 6 spot than the 3 spot.

In fact, if we do manage to trade down (Dallas anyone?) I'd like to see even one of the people that wildly emoted over how stupid we were to beat the Chief's man up. I'll be posting on Scott Wright's board for sure.

I think there is also a separate salary cap or section of the salary cap designated for teams to sign their rookies? Can someone confirm or detail how that works?

Excellent thought. The fact that teams don't have to mortgage their entire draft to move up to 6 could very well give us some additional options with the pick.
