    Ask Mike Tannenbaum

Our friend Jamie Stuart, the sports correpondent for News 12 Long Island has a 1 on 1 interview scheduled with Mike Tannenbaum tomorrow and asked me to ask you guys to post your questions. He said he would use at least one of the best one's here. So, ask away.

Note: Keep this serious....save the silly questions. Any stupid questions will be deleted and you will risk getting banned.

How sad is it that you actually have to say that?

In light of your recent FA acquisitions, do you feel that you are in the position to use your first round pick on the best available player rather than on need?

My question is with the additions are you still in favor of running alot of Two TE sets? or is Baker going to be involved more in the passing game rather than stay in and block all the time?

With all of the recent FA signings, can you give us an update on how much available 2008 cap space we have, minus the rookie draft allocation?

It's the GM, I hope he doesn't know that.

Which position do you feel is our biggest current need or position most needed to be upgraded.

I am sure he has some idea of what mangini is trying to do after all he needs to convince him that we need these types of players.

Seeing that it gives the team no competitive advantage, and that fans clamor for this kind of the information, why don't the Jets release information on the contracts their players sign -- like most other NFL teams (ahem...the Patriots) do? Will you consider changing this policy?

    Thanks

It's hard to think of a good question when you know it's not going to be answered.

What areas of the team do you plan on addressing in this years upcoming draft?

Considering the current QB situation, would you rule out drafting Matt Ryan if he was available at #6?

Many fans believe that Kerry Rhodes should be the Jets highest priority in terms of player retention. Will you extend him or get a new contract in place before the start of his final season under contract in 2008?

Was the possiblity of future labor problems associated with the current CBA and the potential for an uncapped year considered in this year's approach to free agency and the contracts that you signed players to? How are the Jets planning for this possibility?

    1. Was Fanacas bonus this year a SB, or a mix of Signing, and Roster bonus.

    2. Is Damien Woody's second year of Base Salary gaurenteed to him ?

    3. Do players generally care if there getting Signing or Roster Bonus's as initial bonus when they are signing their contracts. Could we see Roster Bonus's be increasingly used, and first year salaries as the salary cap has gone up so much?

    4. Has Girbril Wilson, and Madie Williams contracts negatively effected talks with Kerry Rhodes on a long term contract?

    5. David Barrett, and Eric Barton releases would save the team ALOT of money, and they are marginal players. Could we see their releases before the start of the season?

    6. Has there been any talk of a new deal for Hank Poteat? He has been our best player in Nickel and one of the biggest surprises on this team the last few years.

    7. Has there been any talk of Eric, or you getting an extension?

Do you think that the building of the team's state of the art practice facilities in Florham Park played a factor in any the free agent signings this year?

Regarding Calvin Pace, you stated “We believe that his skills will translate well to what we are trying to accomplish defensively.", Can you elaborate on what skills made you so interested in the guy?

My question is what is to be done with the number 2 cornerback spot? Does the organization have faith Justin Miller will have a full recovery and play that position, or will they go in another direction?

How do you see this year's draft unfolding, with the new time limits etc? Will it make draft day trades harder to achieve?
