    This stat blew my mind

    Compare Favre to Pennington:

    Favre:

    Pct: 68.2
    Yds/Game: 220.2
    Total Yards: 1321
    Yards/Attempt: 6.8

    QB Rating: 92.3

    Pennington:

    Pct: 68.6
    Yds/Game: 232.7
    Total Yards: 1396
    Yards/Attempt: 8.1

    QB Rating: 97.4

Wasn't the point of getting Favre to open up the whole field? Use his harm strength to throw the deep ball? Well, the stats clearly show a different picture. If we replaced Pennington to get more throwing yards per attempt, we've clearly regressed.

Have you watched the games? Those stats are extremley misleading. Look at how many points weve generated throw the air compared to the dolphins. Chad has severl 2 yard hand offs that their RBs break for 70+

Wow. This would seem to indicate it's the coaching!

Miami has better running backs, a worse Oline and a worse WR corps. The Jets clearly have a better QB. The only answer to why we're not getting better production out of the QB position to me is coaching and gameplanning. I'm open to hearing different opinions but this one seems pretty clear.

The only exception I'll throw in there is that Pennington benefited from a few gadget/flea-flicker kind of plays that went for 2 huge TD passes last week. That could skew the numbers.

Maybe the problem is that Favre is too busy giving scouting reports on the Packers, or texting Peter King to say he didn't, instead of working on learning the playbook and game plan. While Chad Pennington is working hard and adapting quickly to a new offense.

Favre's been outplayed by Pennington this year, his mistakes are losing games that should be won while he has yet to be the main cause of any wins.

Not shocking Chad Pennington is a good NFL QB. Why most of you don't realize that is amazing.

Oline production is also not very encouraging:

Jets Oline allowed 15 sacks, losing 121 yards in the process. That's 2nd worst in the league. Also, Favre has fumbled the ball 6 times, losing it twice.

This is NOT the Oline we paid HUGE BUCKS for.

(Comparison here isn't as important, but if you'd compare to the Fins, Pennington was sacked 10 times, losing 60 yards. He fumbled once, and recovered it.)

I don't know you guys, it seems the dreaded RB screen has a huge presence in nearly every package you have.

Dude, stats are stats and you cant pick and choose what parts of the stat you want to consider misleading. If you want it to go this way then how about Favre's stats being misleading by the fact that his receivers were so wide open for the td's against the cardinals my grandmother could have thrown a td on all those plays? Maybe they shouldnt count either?

The o-line isnt as bad as it looks. Other teams dont have this problem as much as us b/c our coach decides its best to run the spread formation on every play leaving no backs to help in protection.

His QB rating is lowering, especially after the Raiders game, where it was only around 74.

Im not totally surprised by the stats. Favre is usually a slower starter and evryone here underrates Pennington because they grew tired of watching him play. Chad wont keep up those numbers, but he is more than an adequete NFL QB if you give him a line and a decent running game.

I think we all tend to forget that Favre at heart is a WCO QB, the same as Chad. If his out is a 5 yard dump he is going to take it. The difference (besides arm strength) is that Chad makes his read presnap and already decides where the ball is going while 75% of the time Favre will create time in the pocket and see if something can develop down the field. Favre keeps plays alive especially in crucial spots whereas Chad wont do that. Our playcalling has to be more creative to take advantage of Favres strengths. Favre should be able to hit someone like Coles across the middle and he can turn a 7 yard pass into a 15-20 yard gain. It just seems like the patterns being run are not complimentary to opening up the field nor complimentary to Favres strengths. When and if that changes you will see Favre put up his 300 yard games we have all been hoping to see happen very often.

Yes, Chad is outplaying Favre. With Chad, the Jets are 5-1 right now. We win the Pats and Raider game with Chad.

Chad does not lose to a bad Oakland team. The Jets would be at least 4-2 with Chad.

They may have beaten the Raiders with Pennington.

But they wouldn't have beaten the Dolphins or the Cardinals.

    So, they'd be 2-4.
