treating JI members like children is ridiculous...just kick the *******s out who get out of line..no need to ruin it for everyone else who enjoyed the spirited debates on current issues outside of the NY Jets.

Sadly it always turned to name calling. People that act like children get treated like children.

And by that I mean of course the mean-spirited, war mongering, neo-con fascists who ruined everything.

The term neoconservative was originally used as a criticism against liberals who had "moved to the right". Michael Harrington, a democratic socialist, coined the usage of neoconservative in a 1973 Dissent magazine article concerning welfare policy. According to E. J. Dionne, the nascent neoconservatives were driven by "the notion that liberalism" had failed and "no longer knew what it was talking about."

It was an interesting forum - and it was interesting because there were a lot of nutjobs on there. It was the place I went to find out what 'conservative America' was thinking on any particular issue.

I post on a Liverpool FC forum and the politics forum there is basically left-wing (well, in terms of how Americans see it) and far more sedate by comparison. All of the mods are left-wing - any right wing nonsense that is kicked up gets stomped on very quickly - as I said it is a far more polite place and therefore less interesting because of it.

One of the big reasons why the forum on here was so good was because half the time you were thinking: "did they just post what I think I read?" and the other half it was: "do they actually think and believe that?!"

Because there's no greater expert on American politics than an Australian Liverpool fan.

The problem is that too many people got emotional about their beliefs and resorted to name-calling and posturing and arrogance.

There should be some kind of minimum post count to use the politics forum, because then it will be mostly vets who know each other's personalities and won't take anything personally.

And if no restriction like that, it needs to be regulated a little more strongly.

I like it a lot, though. It made JI stand out a little bit more from other Jets forums.

I too, would support the return of the politics forum. I didn't post much there, but I lurked quite a bit. Interesting discussions because of the diversity of the Jets fandom. Most politics boards swing one way or the other and it makes them too bland IMO.

It's the liberals fault. They gang raped all the republicans. Even I was nice when posting over there

Freely admit I know just about nothing about American politics - and also freely admit the politics forum on here for me was like visiting the zoo and seeing all the weird animals out there.

Liverpool does have a tradition of working class/leftist politics, always has and probably always will - that strand of thought is much more in tune with Australia than the United States - reading the politics forum on here has made my mind clear on that.

We're trying to get this forum shut down as well - once the landing strip shuts down the volume on the soccer forum should really pick up. A bit, anyway, maybe an extra post every two weeks or something.

    Not at current, no.

    In the future, who knows.

    Asked and answered.
