    Maybe we should sign him!

    Rams released TE Anthony Becht.

Becht, one of the Jets' infamous former first-round picks, caught just six passes last season and was used mostly as a blocker. He did not have an obvious impact in any game and wasn't worth his $1 million scheduled salary.

I would love to bring back Becht.

Is he useful as a receiver? Hell no.

But the guy is like an extra O-lineman out there.

When you have an unprecedented 4 first-round picks, you're not going to nail them all, and Becht was the mistake at 27 in the 2000 draft. At least Abraham, Ellis, and Chad were solid for the first 3 choices, and Chad only because he fell to 18 and was sitting there.

Then, as now, I considered Becht to be a "why not" pick in that spot. And remember, in Rd 3 we got Coles.

I agree with the sentiment; however, I think you tip your hand with Anthony in there.

He is a very good blocker and definitely something to think about.

And Thomas Jones was the 7th player picked in 2000..

I'd rather bring back Becht then consider someone like Billy Bajema.

yeah I would be for bringing him back. He is a very good blocker. Still young enough.

As for the hands part I dont know what happened to him. He started his career out good in the receiving department and was kind of known for it in college. Then he all of a sudden lost confidence and couldnt catch a cold.

Bring him in for a blocker and receiver in goal line situations.

Another thing about Becht was the knock on how easily he went down following a reception and initial contact. Some opposing coach called it the "shoelace effect" or somethng like it. In other words, grab his shoelace and down he goes.

Exactly I would take him over any free agent TE out there with the exception of LJ Smith.
