    KRL Camp Notes (6/9/09 P.M.)

For those who don't know the first practice was moved inside due to rain. I
was there for the second one and here's what I saw:

    Facility Notes:

    - From the Belt Parkway it took me an hour door to door. I had no traffic
either way but it will cost you $20 in tolls

    - When you get there they had courtesy buses to take you from the parking
    lot to the field

    - They have a huge track of land. Right now there's the offices, indoor field
and four regulation fields. They also have plenty more room to expand, as
much as I would like them to still be at Hofstra the facility should be a big
    tool to attract free agents

    - There's a food court next to Jets Fest

    - The big draw back was there was no stands set up for the fans to sit in

    - Practice was held on the main field which is surrounded by the office
complex. All of the walls are glass so the front office and coaches can watch
    from their desks

    General Notes:

    - Players were in jerseys and shorts

    - Practice ran 1:50

    - Buddy Ryan was there and in Rex's ear all practice. He really looked excited
to be back with an organization

    - Westhoff's operation looks to be successful he no longer needs a cane

    - Both punters (Wilbur & Conley) are physically impressive with big legs. But
they are both inconsistent. One time they'll boom one 55-60 yards the next
time they'll shank one 30 yards

    - No more music (which I miss) but you can hear the coaches better

    - Sanchez doesn't have a good arm he has a great arm. So if Cimini, Peter
King or Pete Prisco writes anything differently don't believe them. All of his
throws outside the numbers are on a line and it doesn't matter if the patterns
are 15 yards or 35 yards. He doesn't need an arc on his throws to reach his
    receivers

    - This is definitely Rex Ryan's defense. Pettine maybe the DC in name but
when a blitz package was being installed Ryan took over

    - As far as defensive alignments are concerned the best way I can describe
it is "what you see isn't what you get". One time they were in a 3-4
formation and just as the ball was snapped the safeties covered the WR's,
the CB's came on a double blitz and Bart Scott ended up playing deep
safety. And I still don't understand how they did it

    - Some formations I did see were a 4 LB - 7 DB and a 2 DL - 2 LB - 7 DB.
And the encouraging thing is no matter the formation they always seem to
get pressure and the secondary doesn't get "gashed" for big gains

KRL I love the notes you do, good job man, IMO your better than the beat writers.

    Just a few questions though.

    1. How did both QB's look.
    2. How do the WR's look
    3. Any news on Gholston?

    My 3 questions as well.

Also, how's the DL depth look?

It wouldn't be fair to comment yet after only 1 practice. Hopefully by
tomorrow I should have a better idea about specific players. I'll be there
    for both morning sessions

clowney is 100X over rated...dropped NUMEROUS balls this afternoon and it was clear

DL depth is hard to see in this practice situation...Clowney is overrated. Brad Smith is playing with the first team. Stuckey looks like Stuckey--strong, but decent for a slot guy. Cotchery looks like Cotch. and No other receivers (henry, wright etc.) stood out...and as i stated before CLOWNEY CAN NOT CATCH.

I was never one of the Clowney guys, he is extremely overrated on this board and isnt better than Brad Smith (who has been good in camp and stepping up) or Chansi Stuckey.

Im interested to see/hear how Gholston is doing, most notably if he expanded his pass rush moves.
