All the Woodhead haters can throw a party now

I have gotten used to the irrational hatred of certain players on this board (and the irrational love of some others) but the venom and complete dismissals thrown at Woodhead the last couple of days takes the cake. You got your wish he was released. Break out the hats and noise makes. The evil player who did nothing but bust his butt, AND show talent and long term promise is gone so we can have a 4th QB and a couple other JAG TEs and FBs. Yep our team is much stronger now.

I didn't see any venom towards him, just people wondering why he made the team. It seems now, that the Jets just wanted him to make the team, for the good story and his strong performance, but he never was really in their plans.

And in no way will I throw a party or anything like that. I feel for Woodhead, as he's trying to make it in this league. I want him on our PS, but I wouldn't be mad if another team gives him a chance to make it on their 53 man.

If Woodhead could actually help this team he would still be here. I can't believe so many grown men got emotional attached to do this guy.

I will, IF our team got better.

Since Woodhype was at best a #5 RB on this roster, I think the moves made thus far, providing a punter and depth at Blocking TE, improved the team. O'Nobody at QB is a head scratcher, but I'm betting either he won't be here long, or some other move is in the works related to thim.

Hard to see how cutting a #5 RB made it worse. The irony, of course, is that your first line lambasts "irrational" hatred, when you yourself seem quite irrational in your anger over the release of.....yep, the #5 RB.

It seems to me that JAG blocking TEs and 3rd string waiver wire TEs are MUCH easier to replace than a young RB prospect who has shown in a game day situation that he has break away speed, elusiveness, burst through the hole, surprising toughness and in Ryan's own words the best hands on the team. With Jones gone next year, and the likelihood of at least some injury time for 1 or more of our RBs, I truly fail to see how a backup TE, FB or 4th QB are more important to keep on this roster. I really don't and that is not irrational.

It ALSO bothers me that people are seemingly OK with keeping an aging ST specialist over a very promising linebacker in Cummings. You say that "in Rex we trust" well to be honest I think these moves stink of Tannenbaum and would not have happened (either of them) if Rex had control of the roster.

We'll have to agree to disagree then, because I don't see any of what you wrote in Woodhead, I see an undersized guy lacking all the physical tools of size/strength/speed/agility, who clearly isn't NFL starter material now (or ever), who had a lucky shine vs. future meatcutter&garbagemen 4th stringer roster soon-to-be cuts in the most meaningless preseason game of the year.

I see a guy who, vs. legit NFL #1's, would be lucky to gain 2 YPC, even with our great line. I see a guy who is far more projectionist wishful-thinking hype, than on-field real-deal. A story, not a player.

So yes, depth at need positions that lacked it, like TE and FB, are both more vital than a #5 RB who would never see the field. As I said, the QB move is the only questionable one IMO, and we'll see where that winds up.

Specials are a vital aspect of a winner. But I coukld see merit in either choice.

Doubt it, as much as you'd like to remove the burden of chocie from Rex, or live the fantasy that Rex desperately wanted to keep Woodhead, but mean old Tanny refused, it just isn't so. Rex has plenty of say, and if he wanted Woodhead, woodhead would be on this team.

But perk up, maybe Woodhead will end up on the PS. Unless all the other teams agree with you, and immediately snatch him up to be their #1 RB.

Agreed..I think to many people on here are waiting for the next Chrebet to root for..Only 1 Chrebet

Not so sure if he's going to clear waivers with BB around..If the Pats don't pick him up I'm sure he'll be on the PS where he belongs. When Jones leaves next year It'll be his turn.

You can say he does not have size, but to say he does not have the strength speed (are you kidding) or agility (seriously?) is just plain ridiculous. Had he attended the pro day he would have been second fastest RB there, FIRST in the agility drills (better than Leon was) and near the top on the bench. This is what I mean about unfounded bias. You dont think he will be good fine, but dont ignore the fact he is actually a superior athlete.

With all due respect, teams are in it to win. If he was a "superior athlete" faster and more agile than say, Leon Washington, he'd be on an active roster and starting. Not unemployed.

Football isn't a game of pure off-the-field drill numbers or college resume either. You know who had great numbers? Dewayne Robertson, how'd that work out?

Sorry for your dissapointment, but you're just going to have to forgive those of us who simply do not see what you see in this kid. But if you are right, the only logical conclusion is that some other team will take him, make him active, and at some point play him. So we'll see I guess.
