    Need help understand playoff seeding

So is SD going to sit players on Saturday or do they not have the 2nd seed locked up yet? They are a 3 point dog at the Titans and I am trying to figure out why? Any help would be appreciate, thanks.

No way. They do not have the #2 seed locked up and since they're playing tonight the Patriots haven't had a chance to lose and hand it to them.

    Likely a dog because:

    a. Titans are a good home team on nationally televised games.

    b. Titans have something to play for and are streaking.

    c. Chargers coming East, during a holiday, gimmie home win next week, lots of distractions possible.

Thanks SAR. I thought 3 points was a little too much considering that both teams are on fire and Rivers hasn't lost a game in December still.

After last nights rout of the Titans, SD has #2 locked up.

Scenario for Patriots as follows. Not sure what Jets scenario is for a playoff spot. Please post if you know.

The Patriots are the No. 3 seed if ANY of the following happens:

-They win out and the Bengals lose once
-They beat the Texans AND the Bengals lose to the Jets
-They win once AND the Bengals lose twice AND the Ravens lose once
-They beat the Texans and lose to Jaguars AND the Bengals beat the Chiefs and lose to the Jets AND the Patriots finish with a better SOV.

The Patriots are the No. 4 seed if ANY of the following happens:

-They lose twice AND the Dolphins lose once AND the Ravens lose once
-They win twice AND the Bengals win twice AND the Bengals finish with a better strength of victory.
-The Bengals beat the Jets AND the Patriots lose to the Texans and beat the Jaguars.
-They beat the Texans and lose to Jaguars AND the Bengals beat the Chiefs and lose to the Jets AND the Bengals finish with a better SOV.

The Patriots can also be both the 5 and 6 seeds, but there are so many machinations for each that itís not worth listing them all. Anyway, it would take the unlikely scenario of both the Patriots losing twice and the Dolphins winning twice.

In a nutshell the Jets playoff scenario:

Jets beat the Colts & Bengals:

    and

    Jacksonville, Miami, Denver & Baltimore.

3 of these 4 teams must lose 1 of their last 2.

Or the Bengals losing twice (Chiefs & Jets). If this happens, it creates another opportunity that is a little complex to describe here.

We are all gonna be on the edge of seats.

This is a Jets forum. Feel free to post your worthless Patriots scenario crap here, but dont be too shocked if 99.9% give a ratts ass.

Its not like the Pats are gonna make it out of the first round anyway.

They are MAYBE the 4th best team in the AFC. Probably 5th or 6th.

Heres to youre 1st round bouncing! Tally Ho! Go get umm Richard!

If all four win today (Jacksonville, Miami, Denver & Baltimore including us) and it goes down to the last game, MIAMI must lose. If MIAMI wins both but the other 3 'lose one' as in your scenario....we do not get in.

    Unhappy

Jets need to beat Cincy for a playoff spot. Sanchez playing like he did today isn't going to win any playoff games. The Jets ST and Defense will have to win them. That's like playing with one hand tied behind your back. Good teams will play the run and dare Sanchez to beat them.

    Good luck with that scenario.

BTW, Nice win against the Colts subs. Glad to see Peyton pulled and to see the look on his face as the 3rd string QB blew the game for them.

No undefeated regular season for Indy. Poor Colts.

This post is why you are a douche bag. ANY language near that on a PAT* site, you would be banned.

We are more open minded. BUT, you are classless for sure.

Both a Jet win and a Patriot win next week would mean Pats would host Jets at Gillette Stadium if I read the playoff generator correctly.
