I actually owned one of the two Foley Jerseys sold in NY back then.

Glad to see he is back on track.

You hear that Mrs. Washington? Get yourself some Prozac before you pack up.

Oddly, the other was purchased by the late Larry "Bud" Melman (aka Calvert Deforest) for a quilting project.

Let me guess- your other jersey is Ken O'Brien?

As long as the guy is Irish , right?

You probably bought Freeman McNeil when you heard the name.

Parcells bigest mistake was getting rid of Foley after the 98 season. Foley I guess wasn't one of his guys, and of course it cost us after Vinny went down during game 1 of the 99 season.

One of the ballsiest quotes I ever heard was by Foley.

Back when he was a senior at BC, he was in the lockeroom surrounded by the media. This was just before that weekend's upcoming game with Rutgers and one of the newspaper guys said "Hey Glenn, Rutgers thinks they have a shot to go to a bowl this year."

And Foley said straight out--"The only bowl they are going to is the one I just got off of."

He said this BEFORE the game. The guy had some moxie.

I met Foley outside the stadium beofre our home game vs the Pats in 1997. He ended up comming in after Parcells benched O'Donnel and beat the Pats. He was our starter going into 1998 and i think he lied about an injury before the Rams loss and then Parcells put in Vinny. Foley looked great that opening game at SF - damn OT game!!!

+1 better option then Mirer and Lucas. Foley might have been a really good QB if he could have stayed on the field.

Agreed. He was a bit of a tease, that maybe "coulda, woulda, shoulda."

Foley had a REALLY quick release and a decent arm. What made him fun to watch and vastly better than the Big FA signing acquisition O'Donnel, was his mobility to keep a play alive. the 7th rounder Foley flat out won the starting job for '98 and had an INCREDIBLE season opener against the 49ers in '98 before getting injured against the Rams in game 2. The rest with Vinny coming in is Jets history.

But considering he was a 7th rounder that won us a few games after riding the pine w/out a real shot to compete, it was the most promise we had seen in a young QB drafted by the Jets in the 90's. It's sad b/c Foley w/out the injuries is a classic "what if?"

Watching a piece of crap like Rick Mirer fail horribly at the job you were supposed to do will make anyone depressed. Thank you Parcells.
