    Adalius Thomas to the Fins?

Looks like we got some competition to get AT.

It's one thing if we don't end up getting him but I will be pissed if the Fins scoop him up. I hope we make a move.... and FAST!

    Dolphins looking at Adalius Thomas

    By Mark J. Miller

Adalius ThomasThe New England Patriots released 11-year-veteran linebacker Adalius Thomas the other day and the rumor is that he wants payback, according to the Miami Herald.

Thomas supposedly would like to join a team that plays the Pats twice this season, a request the Miami Dolphins can help him out with.

It's not clear the Dolphins will make an offer for Thomas, who is likely wanting some big dollars from whatever team he signs with, but the team is certainly planning to discuss the possibility and do a bunch of research to see if he would fit the team's plans for next year.

The 32-year-old two-time Pro Bowler has been on one Super Bowl champion club and was the 1999 Liberty Bowl MVP when he was playing for the Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles, where he also played basketball. Last year, he was involved with 34 tackles and three of those were sacks.

Can't see why Thomas would want to go to a Parcells-built team after he stunk in the Belichick defense. It's the same 3-4 two gap system designed for the linebackers to react.

If Rex doesn't want the guy than Miami can have him.

I can definitely see Miami making a play for Thomas. With Taylor no longer in the mix there they may use Thomas to fill the void.

they need him more than we do. If Rex, who coached him with the Ravens really wanted the guy, we'd have signed him already (see Scott and Leonhard)

Which indicates to me that letting AD go was a good move....

Mediocre production from a highly paid locker room distraction...

To think he'll play better because he's on a mission means he was a slacker with the Pats...

All that money in his pockets must have been slowing him down..

No, it's because teams are forcing Thomas' agent to lower his cost.

Jets are interested, probably not as much with Taylor now signed, but they aren't going to break the bank for him.

Did you feel the same way when the Pats got that "mediocre production, highly paid locker room distraction" known as Randy Moss??

We just don't have room for him. Not as much room as AT deserves anyway.

It would suck if he goes to Miami, but it's not the end of the world. He's not an unbelievable difference maker, and some fools actually thought that before he signed with New England.

    Comparison holes zero water...

guy A - Greatest talent at the position ever - sure fire hall of famer with a history of incredible production - stuck on a terrible team with no surrounding talent

guy B - Solid LB with a few very good years - surrounded by a team with a couple Hall of famers - product of the players around him

With Moss - there was a reason to be excited
With Thomas - there is reason to doubt

This guy is an even bigger douche than Ursula the Giant Douche. If anyone deserves payback here it's Patriots fans for having to suffer through three seasons of this underachieving malcontent.

Well we may have pretty good depth at OLB with:

    Calvin Pace
    Bryan Thomas
    Jason Taylor
    Jammall Westerman

BUT who is going to back up our ILB???

    David Harris
    Bart Scott
    Ryan Fowler
    Laury

IF Harris or Scott go down I dont think anyone wants to soley rely on Fowler to replace/spell them. We all remember when Harris was hurt towards the end of the year Fowler struggled to fill in for him, missing tackles left and right.

Thats why I want Adalius Thomas, he can play ALL FOUR linebacker positions in the 3-4, and will be much needed depth, especially for our MLBs. Also can spell Bryan Thomas/Calvin Pace/Jason Taylor as well to keep all our LBers fresh throughout the year.

    Adalius Thomas-LB-Patriots Apr. 30 - 3:20 pm et

Jets coach Rex Ryan stated Friday that the team will "definitely" consider signing free agent OLB Adalius Thomas.

"Well always listen to anything," said Ryan, also praising the 33-year-old's versatility. "Im not sure. Well see. Well definitely consider him." The sides aren't believed to engaged in any contract negotiations yet.

Talk about EXTREME revisionist history . . .

There's no doubt how great a talent Moss is. But there were LOTS of talk about how he "lost a step", "lost his desire to play", "locker room cancer", etc.

No one is expecting AD to have the impact Moss did. But it does provide proof that a "change of scenery" can do wonders for a player, and if Rex still thinks he has it, I'd LOVE to see what he can do with him.

Well by your link he is ONE of the ILB back ups, Fowler is the other and was the back up last year who filled in for Harris when he got banged up.

Either way, we need some depth and Adalius Thomas can back up all 4 LB positions, has more expirience and has proved he can play on a high level inside as well as outside, its just a question if Rex wants him or not.

If not you would think they would bring in someone for ILB depth, maybe an UDFA, a veteran who ends up getting cut, someone who can help.
