Pats CB Bodden Out for the Year

Bodden had been battling a knee injury. Tied for team lead in 2009 with 5 INTs and led team with 17 passes defended.

The Bodden news also might help 2008 second-round pick Terrence Wheatley stick on the roster.

With Bodden out for the year, it thrusts first-round pick Devin McCourty and 2009 second-round pick Darius Butler to top roles.

Other moves: DL Darryl Richard, S Bret Lockett; S Josh Barrett all to injured reserve. CB Terrence Johnson released.

Big blow for the Patriots, as starting right CB Leigh Bodden has been placed on season-ending injured reserve.

Wow. News keeps getting worse for their defense. That unit is going to be swiss cheese this year. They're going to be in a ton of 38-35 type games. They might need to score 35+ to win every one.

2 of their 3 best defensive players out for the year.

If the Pats are to win games they will have to score 30+ per game

I fricking hate the preseason. Nothing better than watching key players on good teams get injured in meaningless games. Oh well. Hope he recovers - he's a good player. That being said this will be good for the Jets.

During their cheating days this would hardly be bad news for the pats, Belichik would just plug in a WR or some scrub at corner and all's fine-no biggie. Now in the post spycam era, that secondary is toast. No sympathies from me. Let's see how much of a defensive genius you are Belichek.

Who cares, Devin McCourty is an absolute beastly stud and Darius Butler is on par with Revis or even better.

    Thanks,

The Patsies are folding up like cheap suits in the face of enormous pressure to bone up, man up, whatever you choose to say and meet the Jets head on.

The only problem is - I don't believe the Patsies have to worry about the Jets. They'll split w/ the Jets just like they have in recent memory. They still have Tom Brady and BB, and whenever you have that much you are going to win a lot of ball games.

Meanwhile, I see the Jets shooting themselves in the foot. Sanchez looks like a classic sophomore slump waiting to happen this season. The Jets will probably end up being much the same team they were last season - middle of the road team. I'm thinking 9-7 or 10-6 will be their record.

They are going to have to keep Sanchez in check, ie, keep the ball out of his hands and lean on the running game. That has the makings of the same team as last season.

They will win a lot of games based on a productive running game and stout defense. However, the minute they fall behind, the Jets are done. They wouldn't be able to put the ball in Sanchez's hands and say, "go out and win this game for us". that's not how our team is built, at least not right now.

    He owned Sanchez last year.

On a side note, this has to be karma.

I know Pace is out for a few and Ropati for the year, but all in all we should be thankful

the Jets fell behind in both of their postseason wins and "put the ball in Sanchez' hands and told him to go out and win the game for us"

    Which he did.

Maybe Maine is situated too close to Boston

I think this is what the Patriots starting defense looks like.

    DE-Gerard Warren
    NT-Vince Wilfork
    DE-Mike Wright
    OLB-Tully Banta-Cain
    ILB-Jerod Mayo
    ILB-Brandon Spikes
    OLB-Jermaine Cunningham
    CB-Devin McCourty
    FS-Brandon Meriweather
    SS-Pat Chung
    CB-Darius Butler

    Not scary at all...

I still wouldn't underestimate them. With that offense all the defense has to do is make one or two big plays a game and they still can be tough opponent.Even though I can't stand that cheat ,but I must admit he finds ways to win.
