I think the odds of Luck leaving Stanford just increased exponentially.

It's what he wanted all along. I'm sure he's giving special thanks to Stephen Ross for upping the ante.

In the meantime, the Dolphins have reportedly exhausted their list of possible candidates to replace Tony Sparano as Head Coach. The last candidate contacted, Rich Kotite, said after his interview with Dolphins owner Steven Ross and GM Jeff Ireland that "The (Miami) situation just wasn't the right opportunity for me to get back into coaching. They are so screwed up already there really was no way I could make it worse."

Meanwhile, from a remote location, Tony Sparano continues to chomp gum and wear sunglasses in dark rooms...

If I'm Carolina, I'm calling SF right now to see if they would like to trade up.

#7 to #1 isn't actually that far out. It certainly seems compelling and CAR needs a lot more than just a top pick whom, without Luck, isn't even clear-cut. They can get a QB at #7.

Also, CAR doesn't have a 2nd rounder (thanks to NE yet again) so this is an excellent way for them to get it back.

    Absolutely.

Although...handing a Conference competitor their new coaches most desired QB....could be painful if both work out. The compensation would have to be quite high.

I think CAR needs to worry about getting to respectability (i.e. 8-8) a lot more than about strengthening a team in another division.

I actually smell a rat in the timing of Luck's announcement being just before Harbaugh's.

I'm sure he'll send him a nice gift basket. After all they are the essence of class and fanciness.

Oh, no doubt there was collusion.

If Im Carolina I sit on the pick for now. If you trade the pick and he comes out, you traded low. Make him declare that he coming out, then let SF and others drive the price up.

Regardless that picks worth more with Luck available.

Some Raiders fan here, I dont quite recall his name, swore that the Raiders had a legitimate shot for Harbaugh

    What happened?

I'm surprised Davis hasn't FedEx'd Cowher the keys to the zoo and begged him to name his price.

I only know of one Raiders' fan here and we won't see him again until next pre-season when he yet again does his DWC impersonation, Raiders-style.

But the Panthers could still get a good QB prospect at 7.

The Panthers should definitely be interested in dealing with the Niners. The Panthers don't have a 2nd rounder (idiotic deal with Pats last year).

    It's reasonable to ask for a 2nd & 3rd this year (besides the flip) and a 1st & 4th next year.

That's a little more than the Eli Package, but the Giants had the 4th pick.
