2011 Free agents: who is getting tagged?

Which player do you think the Jets will tag? I think David Harris will get tag this year. I think that will be a smart move that will allow us to sign Braylon Edwards and maybe Holmes. I am not sure if we will bring Cromartie back, I think he won't demand as much money. Tony Richardson will return so is Ellis.

    Unrestricted

    Shaun Ellis
    Steve Weatherford
    Brodney Pool
    Tony Richardson
    Braylon Edwards
    Wayne Hunter
    Trevor Pryce
    Antonio Cromartie
    Lance Laury
    Santonio Holmes
    Eric Smith
    Brad Smith
    Drew Coleman
    Kellen Clemens

    Restricted

    David Harris*
    Will be tagged
    Nick Folk*
    James Ihedigbo*
    Robert Turner
    * UFA in Capped Season

As of now, no one is getting tagged. There is no more franchise tag. Not sure there would be one in a new CBA, either.

Let's just pretend for a moment that there ends up being one...

I don't think Harris is worth Top 5 money... He's a good player, but I don't think he's worth the average of the top 5 linebackers. I'm not sure any of the players are. Holmes is probably the closest to actually being worth that type of money.

It's close. Harris is one of the most underrated players in the NFL and would be very hard to replace him. Normally ILB's and MLB's aren't that tough to find but we have very little depth at that position plus Harris is extremely important to our run defense. If we got a 1st rd pick ILB to replace Harris and he didn't play at a top level right out the gate our run defense next season would take a significant hit.

Ofcourse this is all moot until the new CBA comes out and we find out the details.

    As I predicted, Harris tagged.

If Harris is a restricted free agent why do we have to tag him?
