Unhappy The Super Bowl Streak is Over

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/playof...ory?id=6093718

Robert Cook won't attend Super Bowl

    Associated Press
MILWAUKEE -- The streak is over: One of the four men featured in a national commercial for never missing a Super Bowl game will not be at Sunday's showdown between Pittsburgh and Green Bay.

Family members said Saturday that 79-year-old Robert Cook of Brown Deer, Wis., is hospitalized and had sent his two daughters to Arlington, Texas, instead.

Cook's wife, Sarah, told The Associated Press her husband became very weak on Thursday.

"We were packed and ready to go," she said.

Cook said her husband is very depressed; the streak is over, but he also won't be able to watch his beloved Packers in the big game.

"To have the Packers go to the Super Bowl, we were just over the moon about it," Sarah Cook said.

Cook, New England Patriots fan Donald Crisman, San Francisco 49ers fan Larry Jacobson and Pittsburgh Steelers' fan Thomas Henschel have been to every Super Bowl since 1967 and created the "Never Missed a Super Bowl Club."

The four gained recognition in a recent Visa Inc. credit card commercial that celebrated the men's passion for football and their perfect attendance record. Cook's daughters have enlarged a photo of their dad and attached it to a stick so they could hold it up at the game.

The fact that he's a Green Bay fan just makes it even worse for his first missed Super Bowl to be the one in which his team is actually playing in. That sucks.

    I hear ya Ham.
The old saying is "every dog has his day" I'm starting to think our dog has died along with our best chance in years 2 weeks ago. Totally f***ing depressing! I was pretty much over it until this morning reading the paper and thinking it should have been us, I haven't watched or read anything about the game until today, really sucks!

What you think he didn't pay for any of them?

Pony up the cash and you can go to every one too.

    I don't get the hate

it`s not hate. More of a "don`t give a crap" than anything. Am I supposed to feel bad for a person who wastes his money on a sporting event, then isn`t able to go after going 40 years straight? I don`t think so. Either he wastes his money or has too much of it. No sorrow here.

Its not that incredible a feat. If you were abolsutely determined to go to the Super Bowl every year, you could go, no problem. If I felt like going to this game tonight, I could have gone. I have not been to a Super Bowl, and will continue to miss it until the Green and White run through that AFC tunnel

    I'm a Jets and a Mets fan.

Eff that guy. Those four people are sociopaths, one of them decided to miss the birth of his child for a SB or sth. Must be great growing up knowing you're not worth as much as a football game.

My father, a huge Syracuse fan, died right before the 2003 NCAA tournament.
