2011 NYJ Draft Class Right Up...

    NYJ 2011 Draft Recap-

6 Picks= DE, DT, RB, WR, QB, WR

    1. Muhammad Wilkerson DE/DT Temple
Perfect 3-4 DE, slides to DT for the nickle, and can go inside over the C/G on 3rd to pass rush out of the quarter. 21 yrs old and already 315lbs at 6'4 and has room to grow and get stronger. Versitale and fills a need great pick and good value. Beleive the Jets when they say he was atop there board.

    3. Kenrick Ellis NT Hampton
6'4 and 350lbs to replace Jenkins as the man in the middle. Ellis is still there at the end of the 3rd because of character and off feild issues, his play is not the question. SEC recruit transfered to Hampton, and like Wilkerson dominated his competition. Tannenbaum gets good value again at a position of need, Rex couldnt be happier with days 1 and 2.*

    4. Bilal Powell RB Louisville
Powell was a surprise pick but a good one for down the road as a perfect Shonn Greene back-up. Both players offer the same style of play and McKnight could be used as the 3rd down scat back, Bilal also is used as a Wildcat QB. I personally dont think this says much about McKnight but more about what the Jets FO thinks of Powell. 5'10 210lbs running back who goes north and south and fits our system.

    5. Jeremy Kerley WR TCU
Andy Daltons go to guy, kick returner, punt returner, and speed reciever TCU leaned on. Like Bilal running the QB at Wildcat Kerley can help replace a potential loss of Brad Smith in the return gamr. Only stands 5'10 and 190lbs Kerley does his damage out of the slot were his size helps, he gets open and can make a play in the open feild. Goes right around were he should, and offers flexibility in the NFL.

    7. Greg McElroy QB Alabama
Very nice pick by Tannenbaum, Sanchez's potential long term #2 has arrived. Played in the SEC for 2 years, great record, decent arm, but overall just a winner (national champion), stand 6'2 220lbs. Solid QB who is gritty and has a do everything good nothing great type of style. Jets again get good value in a slipping QB who is a Chad Pennington type of game manager.

    7. Scotty McKnight WR Colorado
Sanchez's best friend and the player he threw for at his pro day. Much the same player Kerley who went in the 5th to us is. McKnight offers great hands, slot reciever potential, and helps in the return game. This is a player who is extremely confortable with our QB already, and has alot of Chrebet in him standing just 5'10 and 185lbs, should be a fan favorite quickly.*

Yeah thank you. Particularly with Kerley and McKnight, who I cant claim to know anything about.

7th round picks being what they are, what Jets fan could hate on a Crimson Tide QB?

Excellent writeup thanks mate! Sanchez must be happy and its a good return on his efforts promoting Scotty that the Jets draft his best friend. Apparently he is a useful receiver as well, which is the most important thing.

Still hope we manage to keep Brad Smith though, he's saved the Jets on more than one occassion so I hope that if indeed his time has come - that the youths show in training camp, preseason at least that they got the goods to shore up the gap in his departure
