In 3 years, where is Vlad Ducasse?

Starting at OG? Starting at RT? A backup? Off the team?

Hard to tell, I think we'll know more next season. He was a raw prospect and needed time to develop. Didn't have any offseason workouts with the coaches. I remember when people thought Brick was a bust and Brandon Moore was terrible.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say in 3 years he is our starting RG.

I'd be surprised if he was still on the team.

Listen, he sucks right now. There is no disputing that.

And I don't see him being a starter anytime soon.

But I still see him as an NFL lineman, a backup, in 3 years.

The lockout probably hurt him the most on the team. He's year 2 and a very raw football player and he cannot speak to coaches or the organization for a whole offseason.

    So I voted for backup.

He'll be our starting RT by next season.

It sucks because he has such tools.

Watch his run blocking. It's elite. He has more strength and power run blocking than any Jets lineman. Technically you can only assume he's going to get better there.

Pass blocking he is awful... He seems to have little concept of angles and balance and it really results in a lot of bad plays. It's so frustrating to see a guy show special ability in one facet of the game and horrible ability in another.

Think it has to do with the lack of smarts upstairs...

His pass blocking was much better yesterday. He needs to learn how to pass block from the tackle position though.

+1. If not DEFINITELY by 2013. The guy is a FREAK of nature in terms of size & foot speed. So he's not the brightest bulb on the bodega sign, he still has unnatural ability which will coalesce into quite the MAULING right tackle by year 3 with proper coaching and playbook diligence. In the end, he can be NO WORSE than ol' #75:

Either way, the simplest position on the line is RG and it's also the most advantageous to have a beast run blocker so I'm going to say he's at least starting there.

Best case scenario is he fixes the pass blocking issues and moves to RT.

    this.

he'll be used for depth purposes in the short-term, probably end up as Moore's replacement in the long-term.

Beat me to it. First thing I thought of when I saw this thread, and just saw MIB2 again a couple of weeks ago.

His passblocking is a project. We can only hope he becomes a decent OG starter in a couple years. But he was taken too high to be this kind of project. He also suffered from not having an offseason under Callahan and other coaches.

Vlad is flashing bust signs and Tanny, Bradway and others in scouting need to go back and review if any of these signs were there when he was drafted.
