Bitonti approves of this development and is preparing his "I told you so" comments as we speak.

Was there a mention as to the position he would play? DE or OLB?

I am guessing that he gets to be a rookie again since the Jets coaches (various) all conducted vendettas against him. Chicago coaches too. And you know, once you buy in to the whole "rookie" thing, that rookies get time to develop and show their worth. After all who but a fool judges a rookie during his rookie year?

The Detroit Lions are making an emergency list, they’re checking it twice.

The Lions did their due diligence on Tuesday when they brought in a pair of defensive ends for a workout, one more experienced than the other. Detroit took a look at Alex Brown and Vernon Gholston, according to an NFL source.

Brown has been on the street since he was let go by the New Orleans Saints in late August. The Lions know him well from his days with the Chicago Bears. Brown suggested via his Twitter account that his workout went well. Gholston was with the Bears in training camp but the former New York Jets bust was cut.

The Lions don’t look to have a pressing need right now at end, but probably wanted to freshen up their emergency list in the event something happens in the final three weeks with the team pushing for a wild-card playoff berth in the NFC.

I'll at least give Gholston credit for trying to still play the game. He could have easily just gone home and sat on all his money like Jawalrus.

That's because Jawalrus was never in shape.

Gholston is a workout junkie so he'll always be in physical shape to play football. Unfortunately for him he's not good at playing football.

    Ran where?

He renegotiated for the betterment of the team when asked...

He didn't force the Jets to draft him #6 and pay him that absurd rookie salary...

And by all accounts, he showed up everyday and worked... (out)

I hate Vernon Gholston the football player but Vernon Gholston the person is not a bad guy...

Was anything definitive written saying it was either talent or desire?

Vern could make a team as a JAG that had high injury losses at DE. That doesn't change his failure at the Jets.

I never heard that he was a "bad" guy, just not much of a football player.

His assertion that he did not get a fair chance is true. He didn't get a fair chance, he got more than a fair chance, he got preferencial treatment. A guy like DeVito doesn't get a fair chance and has to overcome guys like Vern getting extra chances.

So if you were drafted 6th overall and were slotted to make what he was given you would have instructed your agent to turn the Jets down and take less?

Or after redoing your deal in the middle of the deal you would returned even more money when you were released?

What makes people sick is goofy

I'd take a dead guy over Mulligan.

Dead guy would get flagged less.
