Can a stolen device be tracked back to you via the internet somhow?

My friend rented a room to this shady kid. He hasnt been seen in 5 weeks so he opened the door and there were several very nice, used laptops that look like the came from a business. I took one.....

Is it possible to trace via gps? How can i ensure that nobody could trace it or look into my files via internet if i start using it or send the fuzz.

    I dont need a hassle

    Thanks

    Anyone?
The googlz says it could be tracked to a general location, but not to an exact address. The googlz also said that it can be remotely shut down and locked. Anyone know about this?

What if i bring it to a "guy" and he reloads the os?

If you don't know how to disable gps on a computer...you probably shouldn't be using a computer....

I have a feeling its a lot more involved than that. You made fun of me for not knowing. Some others will chime in with a different opinion and u might look silly, silly. But thanks anyway

Oh this is precious. Setting up the cards, arent ya? So the icloud thing, find my device feature and third party security apps are all overridden by a simple swipe of the gps enable button. Ok

Better hope they do not have LoJack on it. Not only can they track it they can actually remote control it and throw up a notepad message on the screen. CompuTrace. Look them up. No way to disable.
