Of course, the word is Yiddish. It is pronounced with a "schwa" sound after the K, meaning a centralized vowel. (Schwa is the indistinct vowel sound that leaves us wondering how do we spell that word, with e, a, or i. Usually transcibed with an upside down "e"? )

    Kenish. Second syllable stressed.
