Good thing it wasn't a playboy, he probably would have been shot.

    ESPN.com news services
A 12-year-old student at a Belpre, W.Va., school apparently has been suspended for bringing a copy of Sports Illustrated to school.

Of course, it wasn't just any old edition of the magazine.

Sixth-grader Justin Reyes was suspended for three days for bringing Sports Illustrated's swimsuit edition to his public school, Pittsburgh TV station WPXI reported on its Web site on Monday.

Belpre City School District officials said sexually suggestive material is not allowed on school property.

"You saw bad stuff on the Super Bowl halftime show," Justin said. "You could see more on that than in [the magazine]."

A teacher confiscated the magazine and officials recommended Justin spend time at an alternative school. His mother, Nicole, refused, adding that she's outraged the school district considers the magazine to school a delinquent act, WPXI reported.

"That is not sexual harassment. I doubt my 12-year-old is the only one looking at Sports Illustrated," she was quoted as saying.

Michelle Tafoya brought up a good point this weekend on the Sports Reporters.

She did not see a big deal with Ms. Jackson's performance and asked where is the uproar when it comes to the SI Swinsuit issue? An event that has long passed being a "swinsuit" issue and more of a thread issue as you far more skin in SI then Janet exposed under that monster nipple ring.

Very valid point. They become Maxim Magazine once a year.

I just don't think kids should be suspended from school for bringing it to school.

The difference being, you have a choice to buy and open an S.I. and have a pretty good understanding whats going to be inside that issue.

Nobody had a choice to decide whether they wanted to see Janets floppy or not.

Not that I give a goddam either way, but thats the point.

what exactly do y'all think the swimsuit issue of SI signifies? do you all honestly believe it is in-line with the topic of "sports" or just SI's way of getting their hand in the soft-porn, Victoria's Secret catalog cookie jar once a year? Obviously, it's the latter....a rose is a rose is a rose no matter how you disguise it like the kid was bringing it in to talk sports. The school was not stupid....the parent, maybe (?)

This is the liberals of the world, ,teach these kids it`s ok to burn the AMERICAN FLAG cause it`s covered (in their eyes) under the freedom of speech act ,but looking at a S.I. mag. will get you suspended.....
