The New York Jets announced today they have re-signed free agent punter Brian Simnjanovski.

Simnjanovski, a 6-4, 187-pound punter, signed with the Jets as a free agent on January 27, 2004 before being waived on August 15, 2004. Simnjanovski played four seasons of college football and boasts the top three single-season punting average marks in San Diego State history, averaging 42.1 (2002), 43.6 (2001) and 42.8 (2000). The Escondido, CA native also handled kickoff duties for the Aztecs. He initially signed as a rookie free agent with the Arizona Cardinals in April, 2003.

The Jetsí roster currently stands at 87 players. The Jets will travel to Indianapolis tomorrow for their second preseason game to be held on Saturday, August 21. Kickoff, for the nationally televised game, is at 8:00PM and will be telecast on ESPN.

They probably want to have 2 punters in camp. Odds are he will get cut when camp breaks.

With Hackett running the O, we'll probably just punt on third down instead of going through the humiliation of trying the draw play. Simjankowski was brought in for middle relief, but Gowin is still the closer.

It's too bad that for the Jets, punting is such a large part of the game.

Special Teams Practice usually is better with 2 punters. A punters leg tends to get tired after a number of kicks. helps the team to have another guy there.

Someone is calling Mulligan I guess.

Perhaps this guy was not working at his craft as well as he should and was sent a message? Perhaps Gowin tweaked a muscle or something.
