I'm impressed by the FO for cutting Walters (who I loved) and Ricks who (I didn't). Shows some sack. But please explain why this years JP "The Turnstile" is still on the team. And Pagel is straight up garbage.

Pagel is a good special teams player. He did good on his contain assignment and it was either him or Glenn making the tackle on almost every kickoff.

Except, didn't we cut Wright - our best special teams player? If you're going to keep a ST specialist, shouldn't have been him?

Pagel probably made the team as Westhoff's pick

He also did fairly well in coverage the few times he got in there!

Adrian Jones is a project for next year. It's likely that we lose MacKenzie, so the CS are investing in some young guys with potential now to either start or at least be solid backups next year. I doubt you'll see Jones on the field at any point this year, Brent Smith will backup at tackle.

didn't we cut Wright - our best special teams player?

you're right. I think I was thinking of Stewart.

jones is a project, so they are keeping him on the team

if he was a 6th rd pick or later, they could probably sneak him on the PS, but if teams see a 4th rder cut, they will most likely take a chance on him

Having played only 1 year at OT, they knew Jones was a project when they drafted him. According to many draft reports, Jones has a huge upside, as well as Cavka. Of course those same reports also said the same thing about Ward. However, the difference being Jones and Cavka were on the field 90+% of camp, unlike Ward. So the coaches have alittle better feel as to what they have in Jones and Cavka.

I didn't like cutting Quincy Stewart. The Jets coverage units have gotten worse the past few seasons, so the last thing they should be doing is getting rid of solid special teamers like Stewart and keeping unproven rookies simply because they are fast (McClover).

Jones should be a guard, IMO.

Pagel should be an accountant.

You're my boy and all....but c'mon......not every player on the team needs to be starting material.

You need those special team "gunners" that go balls to the wall....and hit everything in site.

COnsider Pagel that type of player, that serves the new York Jets well.

I, unlike most see potential. Think he could blossom into a solid safety. Have been saying that all along.

Pagel nevertheless is a valuable part of our Jets as a special teams guy....ala Larry Izzo!!!

I'm with you on having solid special teams, I just haven't seen him do all that much on specials either. Maybe this year but i'm not holding my breath.

I think Riggins brought up on a previous thread that Pagel led the league this Pre Season with special teams tackles!

He is in just about every play!!

I was against both of these guys making the team originally. Pagel won me over by being an excellent tackler and a specials stalwart (still can't cover worth a damn). Jones...didn't win me over. When are folks gonna realize that not all draftees are the best man fore the job? Sometimes you have to cut a guy based on performance. Jones showed no propensity for handling the tackle position, project or not. He doesn't cut it, he's not any good at it. The board has nicked him "the turnstyle" and for good reason. I liked nearly all of the decisions made on the roster except...
Matt Walters cut.
A Jones not Cut.
B. Thomas not cut.
The rest I can live with

I noticed that also about Pagel......

Seemed to be in on most tackles on STs

I believe he also recovered a fumble by Iam Smart on a kick off (?)

Many fans are so quick cut a player when they don't produce right away.....

If this was the case we wouldn't have Ellis or Chad...........

The "cut" I am most surprised with is Matt Walters............
