OWINGS MILLS -- The Baltimore Ravens ruled out tight end Todd Heap for Sunday's game against the New York Jets, which means the two-time Pro Bowl selection will miss his seventh consecutive game.

Apparently, Heap's severely sprained ankle suffered in the second game of the season against the Pittsburgh Steelers hasn't improved much since he began running a few weeks ago.

Heap has repeatedly said that he has trouble cutting without pain, but hasn't suffered any setbacks. He wasn't available for comment Wednesday.
Before the team made its announcement on Heap's status Wednesday, Ravens coach Brian Billick indicated that Heap would practice. Either things changed, or trainer Bill Tessendorf just hadn't informed Billick yet of Heap's medical outlook.

Billick has said that Heap's ankle hasn't incurred any structural or ligament damage. Last week, Heap was listed as questionable initially on the injury report before being downgraded to doubtful on Friday.

Meanwhile, offensive tackle Jonathan Ogden (hamstring) is questionable, but was unwilling to rule himself out for the third game in a row.
    "I'm getting better," Ogden said.

Nickel back Deion Sanders is questionable with a strained left toe. Sanders said he hopes to play against Jets quarterback Quincy Carter, Chad Pennington's replacement, but was limping badly and had an electronic stem machine attached to his foot in the locker room.
"It's a painful toe," Billick said.

Offensive tackle Ethan Brooks (thigh) and linebacker Bart Scott (hamstring) are probable.

The Ravens have until next week to decide whether to activate quarterback Anthony Wright or place him on the injured reserve, with two weeks remaining to make that decision on outside linebacker Peter Boulware.

Wright said he expects to be activated this week or next week. Activating them from the physically unable to perform list would require cutting someone from the 53-man roster, or demoting a young player to the practice squad.

Heap being out is big...I can't remember when anyone on the Jets could cover a TE, especially a good one..and if Ogden is out, I expect J Abe to rebound & have a monster day
