John Abraham is gonna be a jet next season, so we have to look at the positives he gives us. He is a top 3 pass rusher in the NFL. He is pretty much guarenteed a 10 sack season when hes 100% healthy. He will help a fast developing secondary by rushing the passer along with the reast of F.E.A.R. Fergie will be resigned and notice, the jets did not give a 300+ passer until Brady i belive. That shows that this team is good and no QB got close to playing well toward our D. Abe is just gonna help that. Grab a FA CB, there are many solid ones in FA. Trade down and grab a SS, TE, and RB in Rd. 2 and we will be set. JA is a great player, he will help this defense and give this defense a small bit of experience. I['m looking foward to a very good season next yr from JA. 12+ sacks, 50+ tackles, and a few pass deflections. Imagine this D next yr

DE- Abe (27)
DT- D-Rob (23)
DT- Fergie (31)
DE- Ellis (27)
OLB- Hobson (25)
MLB- Vilma (23)
OLB- Barton (28)
CB- Barett (27)
CB- FA pickup (Smoot, Rolle, Baxter) mid 20's)
FS- Coleman (23)
SS- 2nd rd pick (22/23)

the only thing I would have against a D like that is it is very young

i think abe will be around as well...

but i have a question for all of you...

next year, if you were the herm or henderson what would you do...play abe all the time when he is healthy, because there is a chance he will get hurt again so you might as well use him up while you can or do you have him split time with thomas in hopes that less snaps will mean there is a less chance of getting him hurt?

i always thought that he should split alot of time with thomas because less of a workload would mean he would be healthier, but now that im thinking of it now, i was thinking that he is probably going to get hurt either way so play him constantly until he gets hurt...i dunno though...just a thought.

so all in all, i guess the real question is, do you think that splitting time would help him avoid injuries to a significant degree? or not?

dwight freeney will be a free agent, and all colts fans are already conceding he will leave, so we should replace abraham with freeney!

he wouldn't get doubled half as often if he was on the jets dline with drob and ellis. thats a fact jack. abe gets alot of 1 on 1 matchups while drob gets doubled up

I agree on the draft bit, but jevon kearse is no where near as good as Freeny, They will get somethig for him. Kearse is very injury prone while freeney isnt.
JA can go, but TB made that clear that he is not. Have you ever seen a player of such skill just walk unless he complained about his contract or his team?

have u seen mine, Green J nd H, check it, it may be unpopular but it is a more realistic move:

Mock Off-Season

Resign:
Ferguson (DT) (2 yr), Baker (TE) (yr), J.Carter (WR) (4 yr), Goodwin (OC) (3 yr), Reed (DT) (2 yr), Moore (OG) (6 yr), Glenn (LB) (7 yr)
Franchise: J.Abraham (DE)

Let em Walk/Release:
Gowin (P), Buckley(CB), Becht(TE), Chrebet(WR), McKenzie(OT), Jordan(RB), Evans (DT), Harper (DT), Tongue(SS), Mickens (CB), Wright (OLB), Yovanovits (OG)

Restructure Contract With:
D. Abraham (CB) , Sam Cowart (MLB)

Sign:
Gary Baxter (CB) (4 yr)
Has played with Henderson before and is physical just like Herm Edwards likes his corners. Will replace the quickly dropping Donnie Abraham to create a much stronger secondary and bandaging up the weakness of this defense.

Ryan Diem (OT) (5 yr)
Will replace Fabini on the left side, as Fabini was very slow last season. Diem belongs to the Colt O-line which let nearly no one touch Manning in his breakout season. Fabini will move to the RT spot where he was previously placed.

Draft:

Trade Rd 1 pick # 26 for two early 2nd rd pick
Rd 2- Ernest Shazor (SS)
Shazor will create a great rotation of Ss with McGraw, Coleman and Washington. Donnie Henderson knows how to use all his defensive players and will create a dominating secondary, especially with the signing of former BAL Raven Gary Baxter.

Rd 2- Alex Smith (TE)
Anthony Becth is gone, Baker and Smith can battle for the #1 TE job and will also help Chad Pennington develop into a better QB. Alex Smith is definitely the most pro ready TE in the draft and the most polished.

Rd 2- Ciatrick Fason (RB)
Lamont Jordan is probably leaving, and he is a good backup aswell. Has great great speed, very fast and can take one all the way. Huge amount of potential which will be harnessed well (hopefully )

Trade next yr 3rd and this year's 3rd for high 3rd rd pick

Rd 3- Vincent Jackson (WR)
Played Division (II) A football. Not only is this guy tall, but he plays like a TE and is rumored to be in 220s or 230s in lbs. Gives Pennington another big target other than Justin McCareins. He could project as a TE, but Mike Heimerdinger will use his players well no matter where they play at. He is 66 (Watch him in the senior bowl)

Rd 4- Jason Brown
HUGE player!!! A monster and will be a major impact against a 3-4 with his size and will be enough for the NT to handle (OC)

Rd 5- Derek Wake (OLB)
A pass rushing LB, can come on passing downs. Raw, but will learn as time comes along. Will add more depth to the Jets strong LB corps.

Rd 6- Albert Means (DT)
A huge player who can engulf blockers and can be a 3-4 nose tackle on special occasions. Can also help in goal line situations

Rd 7- Leon Robinson (OG)
The Jets have great success drafting O-lineman, they can land another steal with Robinson, who gets to learn behind Mawae and Kendall.

Final Thoughts:

The Jets off-season will consist of getting the three most important positions being CB, SS, and OT and then giving both creative coordinators more toys to play with. The more depth this team has now, the better it becomes, especially with a healthy Chad Pennington and the Jets previous rookies having a year under their belt.

Prediction- 12-4 (AFC Championship Game Loss)

PROJECTED ROSTER:
QB- Pennington, Bollinger, Ray
RB- Martin, Fason, Ward
FB- Sowell, Askew
WR-Moss, McCareins, Cotchery, Jackson, Carter
TE- Smith, Baker, Dearth
LT- Diem, Jones
LG- Kendall, Robinson
OC- Mawae, Brown
RG- Moore, Goodwin
RT- Fabini, Cavka

RE- Abraham, Thomas
DT- Robertson, Reed
NT- Ferguson, Means
LE- Ellis, Walters
SSLB- Hobson, Brown, Wake
MLB- Vilma, McClover
WSLB- Barton, Glenn
PRLB- (pass rusher) Wake
CB- Baxter, Barrett, Abraham, Strait, Henderson (Jaime)
FS- Coleman, McGraw
SS- Shazor, Washington

K-Brien
P-Knorr/Australian Punter
KOS- Australian Punter
LS- Dearth
KR- Cotchery
PR-Moss
