According to KFFL, Drew Rosenhaus, the agent for Indianapolis Colts running back Edgerrin James, has contacted the San Francisco 49ers along with three other teams to measure the interest in a possible trade for the running back. The other three teams that were contacted include Arizona, Miami, and Tampa Bay.

James has expressed interest in being traded to another team and does not want to play under the one-year franchise tender with the Colts. He is looking for a long-term deal which the Colts are unable to provide due to their financial situation.

James was drafted by the Colts in 1999 and has spent his entire career with the team. He has 7,720 career yards averaging 4.2 yards per carry. James has 51 career touchdowns. His best season was in 2000 when he rushed for over 1,700 yards.
