Thread: RON DAYNE signed by the Broncos (Serious)

I guess they plan on kicking ass in the pre-season.

Dayne is the fourth former first-round pick to join the Broncos in the past four weeks, joining the brigade of ex-Browns defensive linemen: Ebenezer Ekuban (No. 20, 1998), Courtney Brown (No. 1, 2000) and Gerard Warren (No. 3, 2001).

Is this really something to be proud of?

By the way, I accidentally posted this in the Mock Draft Forum

In Denver, Ron Dayne has the potential to be a 1500 yd. rusher. Seriously.

hell...in denver I have the potential to be a 1500 yrd rusher...the problem is getting to the top of the depth chart, which dayne seems unable to do...least he won the heisman though...

on another note though...to everyone complaining about hte jets offseason, at least we're not bottom feeding like the broncos...

The guy deserves a fresh start. If he bombs here though, he's gotta be one of the greater Heisman busts along, Gino Torreta and Desmond "not Tutu" Howard.

My gran could get close to 1500 yards with that system in Denver. And she's dead.

He is finally a legit fantasy sleeper.

Whoa Denver is making a number of dubious signings in my mind this off season.

I agree with Alk... I could see Dayne doing well but I think Denver belongs to Tatum Bell and Griffin... maybe anderson will get a look... I see Tatum Bell being their main back this year though...

this would really validate shanahans system if this bum could flourish in it, as well as devalue any futre denver running backs value

It's Denver's system that produces the great runners--- not the other way around.

Portis, for example, in his first two years with Denver rushed for +1500 yards with a 5.5 YPC. Last year for Washington, his yardage slipped to 1315 (still very good), with a 3.8 YPC (not good at all). In all fairness, the entire Washington offense was inept and the lack of a passing threat hurt Portis's effectiveness, but it's hard to ignore what those stats tell us.

And Alk makes a valid point that even Olandis Gary had a season where he rushed for 1159 yards in only 12 games.

get back to me when this "tin man" gets a heart. 240+ backs that try to run like they're 205 don't do it for me. good call on shanahan's system jj28. dayne's gonna cost future backs under shanahan alot of money if he does well in denver.
