    Sunday PM Practice (7/31/05)

Here's what I saw this afternoon:

    - The majority of practice took place on the second field away from the
    stands

    - Herm had them in shorts & shells

    - Everyone who has spoken about Graham is right. He has a cannon for
a leg. He also has a strange "wobble" on his punts that must make it
hard to catch. Finally, he wasn't taking any "extra" steps before he
    punted this afternoon

    - The rumors about Barton's health are not true. He was out there in all
drills practicing with the rest of the first stringers

    - Westhoff led off practice with punts & returns

    - Miller, Mccareins, Carter & Joyce were the main return men

    - Bollinger looked sharp again in 7 on 7. Made a nice TD throw to Chrebet

    - Chad started out looking rusty. Had a INT to Barrett and botched a snap.
But as time went along he started to heat up. Had a nice out pattern
to Coles and a nice long seam route to Mccareins for a TD

i heard John Clayton talking about this before that teams who perform two-a-days don't particpiate in full football gear any more for the two practices. Football has certainly changed a lot.

    - Westhoff had Nugent on the regulation goalposts this afternoon. Was
    banging them through as usual

    - Houston again showed good burst through the line. Had a couple of reps
    with the first string line

    - Adrian Jones again did a good job blocking Ellis

    - It appears Donnie may want his DB's to be interchangable. Because on
a number of occasions he had three "Safeties" with only one corner on
    the field

    - As far as the DT's

Legree has not shown me much

Pouha was much more active today. Showing good push up the middle and
the ability to loop and stunt

Mcgill didn't get many reps. Maybe because of him playing in Europe. But
when he did play he also showed good push

I'll be interested to see Pouha or Mcgill teamed with Robertson and the rest
of the first string line. That hasn't happened yet

Reed isn't tall but does show good quickness into the gaps

    Good to hear.

I've no idea why he was doing it this morning, but I'm glad to hear it's not part of his regular mechanics.

Tanks for the continously coming reports KRL.
I really hope Jones will pull it together and that McGill and Poua will start over Mr. Carrer Backup Legree.

curious to know if field goals were practiced during the ST session, and if so, who was holding.

i assume that Graham has to show himself capable of holding if he wants to make the team as a punter. or is Westhoff working on some type of other plan?

Dude, I would be ticked if the reason Graham got cut was cuz he couldn't be the holder. For crying out loud, half the guys on the team could be holders.

No, specials practice was just kickoffs, punts and returns. Graham did a good job on normal punts - mechanics seemed fine - but shanked a few of the directional kicks (odd, considering he's supposed to be able to put it on a dime from his AFL days, and he was consistently dropping it on the 5 yard line (and into the arms of a cover man) on coffin corner kicks). He also didn't boom em too much, although he pounded a few just him and the coach after practice was over.

One other point from the morning - Maddox is a ST demon
