So....where's the parking lot? It looks like they plopped a stadium inside a park.

are the plans to make this one huge like the proposed NJ stadium...90k seats???

Amen to that. Every time someone talks about the new stadium I say the same thing - outside of the moving up North part, seeing as I'm already here...

Retractable is the answer. You essentially play all games outrdoors including January games but you are able to attratct other events i.e. SB, Final 4 etc etc.

Three things pop out to me
    1) It's in the middle of nowhere.
    2) the hike from the 7 will be a mission, and also from the parking areas. It seems the parking for Shea and the US Open are what's going to be utilized.
    3) the Van Wyck traffic will be even worse than it is now.

the new stadium is shown where it is will eventually be built. All in all I love the fact that queens is willing to give up that much space in flushing Meadows for that. I don't think it will fly considering Woody wanted to build it in the city.

As I understand it, the new Mets stadium will be built in Shea's parking lot. As soon as its done, Shea will become the parking lot for the new stadium. This is a very common approach to new stadium construction. Usually there's a short period of time where they're standing right next to each other, which is pretty strange.

After plans for a West Side Stadium fell apart, the Jets moved forward on an alternate plan to sign a deal with the Giants to stay in New Jersey, but there's still a chance the team could return to Queens.

According to the New York Post, team officials will meet with Queens Borough President Helen Marshall next week to discuss a plan to build a new Jets stadium over the remains of a massive fountain from the 1964 Worlds Fair.

Team sources tell the paper the fountain site is probably the only chance the city has of getting the Jets to come back across the Hudson.

The fountain is located on the eastern end of Flushing Meadows Park and a new stadium would be within walking distance of the Unisphere, Shea Stadium and the National Tennis Center.

Team officials tell the Post, the Queens plan is a possibility, but it would require a great deal of urgency.
In other words - IF THE BOROUGH DOES NOT PUT UP MOST OF IT ($$$) - WE GO WITH THE GIANTS...

    Great concept though...
