Stanford head coach Jim Harbaugh interviewed for the Jets’ coaching vacancy last Thursday, but he announced today that he will staying at the college ranks for at least another season.

In a statement on the school’s website (gostanford.cstv.com) Harbaugh said, “I would like to unequivocally state that I am 100 percent committed to Stanford and I look forward to leading this football program for years to come…I believe we are building a program that will contend for the Pac-10 championship. I have no desire to coach anywhere besides Stanford at this time.”

Harbaugh’s announcement comes as no surprise, as he was considered a long shot in the Jets’ coaching search. He will likely sign an extension with Stanford shortly.
