Florham Park, NJ – The Jets finally get Sam Darnold back, but the injury issues continue to pile up elsewhere. C.J. Mosley is, “doubtful at best,” for this week, Henry Anderson won’t practice today with a shoulder injury. But at least Chris Herndon is back from his suspension, right? Yeah, he is but he tweaked his hamstring running routes by himself last week and is now considered week-to-week.

“I was surprised just because it happened on Friday,” Adam Gase said. “I now he’s been itching to get back out there. It’s tough when you go through what you have to go through – and you’re around – but you can’t do anything. To finally be able to get on the field and now you can’t.”

It’s been one thing after another with this Jets team this season and the bad luck streak doesn’t appear to be ending anytime soon. Getting Darnold back is the most important thing for this team, but having Herndon return with him would obviously have a huge impact on this offense.

The Jets are light at receiver and they haven’t gotten much, if anything, out of their other tight ends. Herndon can help fix both of those issues by himself. He’s not a great blocker, but he can help and more importantly he can get open and make himself a weapon for Darnold.

Gase said Herndon is now considered week-to-week, but he is still holding out hope he can return to practice by the end of this week.

“It’s severe enough that he won’t be practicing (Wednesday),” Gase said. “We’ll see if we can get him back toward the end of the week, but it’s a legit injury.”
